This is possibly the loveliest thing I have ever made, although from the low number of views it is also possibly the most invisible thing I have ever made. Please watch it, and show it to someone else.

The sound no longer functions.
ReplyDeleteIt is an awesome piece, so hope you can restore the music.
Thanks, I liked this one too! But as of today, more than seven years after I first posted the video, it has only received 411 YouTube views. Operating under this cloak of algorithmic invisibility, the idea of continuing to pay for the music makes me want to tear my hair out. Thus, since the owner of the music was not amenable to a royalty-free license, in accordance with her wishes (and legal right) that the music not be used unless she was paid, I removed it from the video after our contract expired.
DeleteBut here’s a fun idea! In the spirit of the “Dark Side of the Oz,” go make yourself a “Dark Side of the Aut.” Cue up the Pink Floyd record Dark Side of the Moon, play my video, and behold!!! I don’t know if it is better than the original, but it holds its own. It's a fitting evolution, and you will be rewarded with at least a few delightful synchromystical moments.
This was a fantastic video. It is a shame.
ReplyDeleteSome of these musicians do not understand the free publicity they receive when performers use their music.
411 views may not be many( it deserves so much more) but I guarantee a fair number of those listen to that song now.
She got more out of it than Autumn! In essence, a free fantastic music video.
It is beautiful.
Thank you for your kind words. The licensing issue was a learning experience for me, but I wish the copyright holder the best.
DeleteSeriously, do the Pink Floyd thing. It is perhaps not the "Halloween Special" we deserve, but, 7ish years later, in March of 2025, it's the Ostara Special that far far better suits my artistic sensibilities where and as they are now.
Thank you for replying.
ReplyDeleteI respect your vision as an Artist, so I will give the Pink Floyd thing a try!
